Save small fish in hunt for sharks, KCR told Modi

​New Delhi: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has appealed to the Centre to safeguard the interest of farmers, commoners and small timers following the decision on demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.

He also urged him to take the states into confidence so that the spirit of Team India prevailed and a greater coordination evolved in implementing the programmes and policies.

Addressing the media here on Monday, Telangana Industries and IT Minister K T Rama Rao said, Chandrasekhar Rao, while welcoming the move of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on high-denomination notes, cautioned the latter "to take care of small fish in the hunt for sharks and crocodiles".

In addition, he suggested to him that the move should not be a one-off step but a series of moves should be made to consolidate the gains.

Rama Rao said the Chief Minister emphasised on the point that being a part of the sovereign nation, Telangana was not averse to the move.

In fact, it was a great move, but great care should be taken care to protect the interests of daily-wage labour, farmers, small-time vendors and the honest working class.

“Having made the move, the PM should now focus on mitigating the problems of common man, particularly in rural India. Please, don't kill small fish while targeting the crocodiles and sharks, KCR reiterated to Modi,” explained KTR.

KCR was of the view that despite Telangana’s problems, the state government would tide over the crisis resulting out of the demonetisation announcement just like any other state, KTR said. “The cash crisis is not limited to Telangana alone.

Every state and people everywhere would be affected to some extent. But, it is the long run that matters. We are sure that this move is for the good of the economy," he said.

Reflecting on the Telangana State Day celebrations at the Indian International Trade Fair (IITF) at Pragati Maidaan in New Delhi on Monday, KTR said the government would soon open a centre in Delhi where the culture and arts of Telangana and the produce of various artisans under the brand name ‘Golconda’ would get displayed.

Thanking the Chief Minister for his dynamic leadership which made Telangana top the Ease of Doing Business list in the country,

KTR said the effort of the government was not just to make Telangana top in IT and Industries but the effort was to make the state a hub of gaming and animation technologies too.

“Animation, gaming and visual effects industry would be taken to the next level in Telangana to exploit the potential", he said.

KTR said he met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday morning and sought his cooperation in developing a world class road infrastructure.

A two-acre land was available at Rasoolpura (of the Centre) and this could be used for establishing a transport hub with suitable developmental programme, he said.

KTR also met nearly 30 CEOs at a programme of the Public Affairs Forum of India on Monday morning and sought their cooperation in securing investments to the state.

Later, he met the Australian High Commissioner and urged him to explore investment potential of Telangana.

A dozen MPs accompanied KTR to take part in the State Day celebrations. Tourism Minister Azmeera Chandulal inaugurated the Telangana Pavilion in the fair on Monday.

The cultural programme's that followed included the Perini Siva Tandavam and the Qawwali programme that enthralled the audience.
