Siddipet: Irriation Minister T Harish Rao, on Friday distributed cheques worth Rs 7.68 lakh to 23 beneficiaries who were in dire need of money for medical emergencies and were eligible to get help from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Distributing cheques to beneficiaries hailing from Siddipet town, Barkichepyal, Lingareddipally, Irkode, Tadkapally, Ellupally, Nanunur, Maqdoompur, Cherla Ankireddipally and Ananthasagar villages coming under Siddipet constituency,

he said unlike previous Chief Ministers who never bothered about the welfare of the people, K Chandrashekar Rao was prompt in responding to emergencies where people in need of money for emergency healthcare needs did not have to wait anymore to get help through the CM’s Relief Fund.

Meanwhile, the Irrigation Minister expressed his desire to make Siddipet the first constituency to implement 100 per cent cashless transactions in the near future.

During his discussions with trade unions supporting beedi workers held at R&B Guest House, he said that steps were being taken to make 2,500 swiping machines available for beedi workers to make cashless transactions in places like village mahila samakhyas and ration shops.

He put the onus on trade unions to create awareness among the people about the benefits of making cashless transactions and assured them that steps would be taken to provide debit cards to each and every beedi worker in the district.
