Kalwakurthy MLA Challa Vamshichand Reddy alleged that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government was diverting the water to the 25,000 acres in Wanaparthy constituency instead of the proposed ayacut in Kalwakurthy constituency.

Hyderabad: Kalwakurthy MLA Challa Vamshichand Reddy alleged that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government was diverting the water to the 25,000 acres in Wanaparthy constituency instead of the proposed ayacut in Kalwakurthy constituency.

Speaking to the media at Assembly Media Hall here on Saturday, Vamshichand said 90 per cent of the Kalwakurthy Lift Irrigation Project works were completed during the Congress regime.

The TRS government too said that it would provide water to Kalwakurthy constituency by July, 2016. But the same government failed to fulfil its assurance. He said his aim was to provide irrigation water to every acre in Kalwakurthy constituency. “If not, I am failed as an MLA,” he said.

Demanding that the State government tender apologies to the people of the constituency for not providing water, Vamshichand alleged that the government diverted the water allocated to Kalwakurthy to Wanaparthy constituency with the pressure of State Planning Commission chairman S Niranjan Reddy.

He said the delay was taking place in providing water to Kalwakurthy because the government had failed to construct an aqueduct on Dindi River. The TRS government was an inefficient one which failed to construct an aqueduct.

He asked the Chief Minister to fulfil the assurance made by him that the water would be provided to Kalwakurthy by 2017 by construing a 20 tmcft of reservoir.

“Otherwise, I will wage a movement against the government along with people of the constituency,” he warned and made it clear that he was ready to sacrifice anything as an MLA of the constituency.
