Medak town wears a festive look as the Church of South India, Medak Diocese, popularly known as the Medak Church, is decorated for the Christmas celebrations to be held on Sunday.

Five to six lakh devotees are expected to attend the grand celebrations to be held at this 2ndlargest Church in Asia, spreading over 300 acres of lush green area.
Devotees from across south India, including foreign tourists, are expected to attend the main festivities which will start from 4 am on Sunday, when the first prayers are held inside the Cathedral.
There will be another service which will continue until noon, after which, each and every devotee would be blessed by Pastors.
Prayers and counselling would be offered to devotees with health and other personal issues for a time frame ranging from two to ten minutes. The prayers would continue until late night until all the devotees receive the blessings from Pastors.
LCD screens are installed at various locations, so that the devotees who ca not be accommodated within the Cathedral could watch the prayer proceedings from outside.
The Cathedral can accommodate between 5,000 and 6,000 devotees at a time. Though there is a water purifying plant in the premises, auto- rickshaws selling water cans would be making rounds throughout the event.
There are about 140 pay and use toilets are established in the premises. The Church administration has taken special care to offer primary health care to devotees in need and about 200- 300 policemen would be deployed for the event.
Around 200 volunteers would be assisting the devotees throughout the event. District SP Chandana Deepti visited the church on Friday and made special arrangements for security of devotees attending the grand event on Sunday.
Police picketing has been set up and around 1,000 policemen have been deputed to Medak town for security purpose.
The special attraction of the event is the mela (fair) which is being set up in the premises. Giant-wheel, tora-tora and other amusements have already been established and stalls are being constructed for selling food, books, accessories, playing games and so on.
