Hyderabad: Chief Secretary S P Singh has adopted a new approach to ensure smooth functioning of administration.

He will turn a mentor for all the junior IAS officers who have been appointed as District Collectors in the newly-formed districts.

Singh told all the Collectors that he would be available round- the-clock on phone and that they can seek his help in delivering goods to the people.

Soon after assuming charge, many district officials brought to the notice of the Chief Secretary the problems being faced by them due to staff crunch and insufficient funds.

The officials also explained to the Chief Secretary that there was delay in redressing the grievances of people. Top sources said Singh had instructed the Collectors to alert him if there were issues of public importance.

He said he would take up the issue immediately with Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and also the Secretaries of the concerned departments.

As the State government accorded top priority to Haritha Haram, two bedroom housing scheme, Mission Bhageeratha ,Mission Kakatiya and other flagship programmes, Singh directed the Collectors to update him on the status of the schemes.

As the government decided to prepare district action plans and allocate funds for the same in the 2017-18 budget proposals,

the Chief Secretary asked the district collectors to prepare proposals in consultation with Planning Department taking into consideration all the details of district economy, living standards and resources aavailable.

Sources said that the Chief Secretary also decided to hold video conference with Collectors every two weeks to review the administration in the new districts and also the progress in the developmental activities.
