Hyderabad: Aruna Bahuguna, Director of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), on Thursday asked the IPS probationers to commit themselves to the ideals of Constitution while imparting justice.

She was addressing the 68th Republic Day Celebrations held at the academy after hoisting the flag. She stressed on the importance of true spirit of the Constitution of India.

The Probationers took part in the March Past witnessed by the Academy Faculty, staff, general public and their family members apart from the students of SVPNPA, Kendriya Vidyalaya and physically challenged children from the neighbourhood institutions.

“This 26th of January, 2017 I charge each one of you to take India’s quest as your own, to take her ideals as your own. For in doing so you will be embracing her strength and resilience.

In this herculean task let the Constitution be your lodestone. This cannot happen if you think of the Constitution as a sacrosanct book to be revered only by lip service.

It will happen when you delve through its pages and grapple with larger than life concepts such as the right to life, procedure established by law, freedom of religion and conscience, abolition of untouchability, to name a few,” she said.

In a separate programme, Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services, Telangana, Vinoy Kumar Singh, hoisted the National Flag at Parade Ground of State Institute of Correctional Administration, Chanchalguda, on the occasion of Republic Day celebrations.

Singh also congratulated Nizamabad district jail superintendent, M R Bhaskar and chief wader at central prison in Cherlapally, P Vijay Kumar for getting Presidential Medal for Meritorious Services.
