In his Republic Day speech at Secunderabad Parade Grounds here, the Governor said, “I am sure that for the welfare of people of Telangana my government would take all steps that are needed.” He called upon the people to become partners to achieve the objectives.

The Governor said the Telangana State was developing rapidly, thanks to the measures being initiated by the government. It had become number one State in “Ease of Doing Business” (EoDB).

The government had completed 31 months and targets and priorities were now well defined. The government had launched a slew of flagship programmes and initiatives.

The successes of schemes like Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya had found an echo at the national level.

Honouring the promise of taking the administration to almost every doorstep, the government had created 21 new districts on the auspicious occasion of Dasara last year, taking the total number of districts to 31 which would enable the district administration to keep track of individual families and their progress.

The government had taken up the dream project of Mission Bhagiratha at a cost of nearly Rs 42,000 crore and the hallmark of this first-of-its-kind programme was that it aimed at providing safe drinking water through pipeline to every household in the State. The plan was to cover 25,000 rural habitations by the end of 2018.

In its bid to make the State a power-surplus one, TS GENCO had launched work on thermal projects with an aggregated capacity of 5,800 MW.

Haritha Haram programme that was aimed at increasing the State’s green cover from the present 25 per cent to 33 per cent was progressing well, he said.

Construction of double bedroom houses would go a long way in fulfilling the dream of every deserving homeless poor for a good house.

In addition to the Kalyana Laxmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes, which were being implemented by government by providing financial assistance of Rs 51,000 at the time of marriage of girls from SC, ST, BC, Minority and EBC community, a novel scheme for single women had recently been announced by the government.

It had been decided to give pension of Rs 1,000 a month to the helpless, single women.

The government had embarked on establishing residential educational institutions on a massive scale as part of KG to PG free education.

Coinciding with the 125th birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar, as many as 103 residential schools for the SCs and 51 for the STs were established. In addition to these 200 were sanctioned for the Minorities out of which 71 have already started functioning.

As part of its efforts to control crime, Telangana State Police was constantly upgrading its skills. Latest technologies were being extensively used in smart policing.

A large part of the credit would go to the unique Telangana Industrial Project Approval and Self-Certification System (TS-iPASS) policy in promoting industrial growth in the State.

The single window online clearance had helped to attract huge investments into the State from within India and also global giants. Nearly 3,000 industries had been given clearances with an investment of Rs 50,000 crore to create about 2 lakh jobs.
