Hyderabad: Freedom fighters advised Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to revive the Indira Park Dharna Chowk as a democrat and earn goodwill of all sections of the society. The freedom fighters staged a deeksha at Maqdoom Bhavan here on Sunday on 30th day of Dharna Chowk Parirakshana Committee agitation.
The freedom fighters asked the Chief Minister to revive the Dharna Chowk to know the pulse of people by allowing them to stage dharnas at Indira Park. They said Chandrashekar Rao should remember that Telangana State was achieved not only with his efforts but also with the efforts of all sections of the society.
After launching the 30th day dharna, freedom fighter Jaini Mallaiah Gupta said he never thought that this sort of a day would come. The Telangana people did not achieve anything without waging a fight. Thousands of people lost their lives and assets in the fight against Nizam and feudal landlords. He said Chandrashekar Rao did not participate in the public meeting held at Bhongir in 1997 because he was with N Chandrababu Naidu.
It was not proper for Chandrashekar Rao, who became the first Chief Minister of Telangana State, to see the people and Opposition parties as his enemies. It was also not proper for Chandrashekar Rao to suppress freedom of expression in Telangana State, he added.
Freedom fighters Burgula Narsing Rao, Dodda Narayana Rao, Anantharaya Sharma, Y Krishna Murthy, Thulasamma, Palle Janga Reddy, K Prathap Reddy and civil rights leader Prof Haragopal condemned the ‘dictatorial attitude’ of the Chief Minister. Telangana Netizens leader K Karunakar Reddy, Dharna Chowk Parirakshana Committee co-convener Prof PL Vishweshwar Rao, members DG Narasimha Rao, Mallepally Adhi Reddy, Sanjaya, Hanmesh, Ravichandra and others participated in the programme.
