Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao called upon the scholars and intellectuals from Muslim community to come up with suggestions for implementation of new schemes for the development of the community. While hosting the annual Iftar and delivering eloquent speech in Urdu on Sunday,

Rao said that he would be coming up with more new schemes and hence suggestions from scholars would be a welcome. He said that any ‘ideas’ for the betterment of the community could be shared by Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Mahmood Ali or any government representative, including TS Wakf Board Chairman, Md Saleem or MLCs or chairmen from Corporations. “You can even write a letter to me directly in this regard for development and for reflecting the Ganga-Jamuni Tehzeeb,’’ he said.

Referring to the bill passed by the State Assembly to enhance the reservations for Muslims to 12 percent, the Chief Minister said that soon he would go to New Delhi to pursue the issue with the Centre. He recalled that during his last meeting with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he had discussed the issue of 12 per cent reservations and the latter responded positively. “This fight will continue and we will return victorious,” he said.

KCR said that the Telangana remained on top in the country with 17.18 economic points when compared to other states. This materialised the dream for which the State was achieved through struggle. He said that the government always felt that fruits of this success should also be shared by Muslim community through their representation in all sectors.

He said that mere subsidy would not help, hence the government wants to give to representation to Muslims in all sectors, and as a result, there were four MLCs and a Deputy Chief Minister belonging to the community in the government. Further, he said that the government for the first time in history,

appointed Muslims as chairmen for 5 corporations and also one of the University was represented by a member of community as Vice- Chancellor, Deputy Mayor for Hyderabad and Warangal. On increasing the educational standards of Muslims, KCR said that by 2022 about 1.33 lakh students would complete schooling with highest standards from Minority Residential

Schools of which 204 are currently operational. He said that scholarships are provided to Muslim students on par with SCs and STs. “There are 595 beneficiaries of Overseas Scholarship scheme during the last three years, which has been now increased to 20 lakhs,” he said.
