Corrupt babus in GHMC Town Planning to be shunted out
Citing high level corruption in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation\'s town planning department, the State government has decided to reshuffle all city planners, assistant city planners and others. The government has alreadyprepared the list and would take up transfers next week.
Hyderabad: Citing high level corruption in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's town planning department, the State government has decided to reshuffle all city planners, assistant city planners and others. The government has alreadyprepared the list and would take up transfers next week.
Highly placed sources in the civic body said that State Government is planning to take up reshuffle by next week. About 200 officials will be transferred to different circle and zonal offices within the GHMC.
A preliminary enquiry will be conducted prior to the transfers and guilty officials will be terminated from their duties (for which government is planning to amend the GHMC Act).
When asked about the issue, a senior GHMC official on condition of anonymity, said that the list of transfers has been already finalised and transfer orders would be issued very soon. He said that it has come to the notice of the government that the officials working in the town planning department have been indulging in high level corruption since several years causing several crores of rupeesloss to the civic body.
He said that recent ACB traps were proof of it. He said that the civic body will now regularly monitor the working of officials and they will be dismissed if found guilty.
