Harish to officials: Monitor levels in water bodies

Hyderabad: Following heavy rains in Telangana for the last two days, State Irrigation department plunged into action to prevent damages and breaches to the canals and dams.

State Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao instructed the officials to visit all water bodies, canals and dams and study the flood situation. The structures, if damaged due to heavy inflows, should be repaired on war footing. All the required material including sand sacks should be made available at all important locations, he said.

The Revenue department was also alerted to mitigate the rain related damages. People were also alerted not to venture into fishing and other activities at the overflowing ponds and canals.
