Hyderabad: The city IT employees gathered here on Friday to express their outrage on the thousands of ‘illegal terminations’ being made by the IT companies.
Employees from different IT organisations and members of Forum of IT professionals hosted a meeting to tell their tales about how they were forced to resign or terminated without a relieving letter.
``Around 25,000 employees were terminated this year alone in the city and since the last three years about one lakh employees were fired. Majority of them was terminated without even a valid reason and some were made to resign forcefully,” said Kiran Chandra, Forum of IT professionals. He further stated that close to 1,600 IT employees in the city filed a petition at the Labour Commissioner’s office, yet no action has been taken till now.
A former employee of Tech Mahindra, Raghava Reddy, claimed that he was fired via SMS during his leave. “The Company has fraudulently submitted a resignation on my behalf, when I was on an approved leave in the month of May,” he said.
Speaking about her atrocious termination as an EA Sports employee, Sri Lakshmi, said, “I was handed a termination letter the very next day I returned from my maternity leave. I was the best performer the earlier quarter, but I was fired because the project I was working on three months ago was completed; this is unacceptable.”
The members of the IT professionals urged the government to take action against these illegal measures. They further demanded that the government should ensure that the IT companies follow the Industrial Employment Standing orders and implement the provisions provided by the Industrial Disputes Act, Shops and Establishments Act and other related Acts.
