Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) is planning to take bold steps to prevent the overflowing sewerage water as well the ground water on to the city roads.

The board has decided to cut water supply connections of those households which pump ground water for their daily activities and release excess water directly on to the road.

These steps are mooted by the board as it came to the conclusion that these activities by the households result in sewerage overflow and depleting ground water levels in the area.

After making it mandatory for an estimated 650 commercial complexes, restaurants, function halls, etc., to have a silt chamber constructed in their premises, water board has now identified households and other complexes with cellar
areas.
