Hyderabad: Telangana tribal folk dances will be the centre of attraction at the three-day Global Entrepreneurs Summit (GES) which begins from November 28 in Hyderabad. As part of the cultural programmes being organised at the summit, the state government will showcase Telangana culture through different artforms.
The famous tribal artforms -- Oggu Dolu, Gussadi, Perini Nruthyam, Dappulu and Lambada folk dances -- would be performed by the trained artistes for the benefit of the delegates at nights to help them relax after the day’s sessions at the summit.
Telangana State Cultural department in coordination with Tourism and ST Welfare department has finalised the cultural programme schedule. The government has sought the assistance of academic experts in dance forms from Telugu university to make the show have a lasting impression on the delegates.
Experts from universities have been roped in to explain the importance of the folk dances before the commencement of a dance programme to help the delegates, who would be arriving from 70 countries, appreciate the skill of the artistes and understand the significance of the dance forms.
“The objective for organising an elaborate cultural show was to help in preserving Telangana culture and tradition for posterity,” a senior official of the department of Culture told The Hans India. Apart from the Telangana folk dances, Indian dance forms, including Bharata Natyam, Kuchipudi, Bhangra and other dances practiced in different parts of the country would also be featured. Renowned classical Indian dancer and Padma Shri awardee Ananda Shankar Jayanth will finalise the concepts to showcase the dance forms.
A special troupe from Haryana is also likely to perform a unique dance with the concept of ‘Ek Bharat Shresht Bharat’. The troupe performed similar cultural programme on the occasion of the Telangana Formation Day celebrations on June 2 this year. With the programme receiving an overwhelming response during the celebrations in Hyderabad, the Telangana government has signed a memorandum of understanding with Haryana government to facilitate exchange of culture between the two states, the official said.
