Hanamkonda: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari wanted irrigation officials to take a cue from Pakhal cheruvu (tank), an engineering marvel of Kakatiya times, before they gear up for the fourth phase of Mission Kakatiya (MK), the State government’s flagship programme aimed at restoring minor irrigation tanks, including revival of chain-link tank system.
Reviewing the Mission Kakatiya works with irrigation officials of all five districts – Urban, Rural, Jangaon, Mahabubabad and Bhupalpally – here on Friday, Srihari told them to take necessary steps to complete the tank restoration works pending under phase-I, phase-II and phase-III before June 30. The deadline for the completion of phase-IV works those get underway on February 3 is also June 30, the Deputy CM said.
The officials were told to chalk out a schedule so that they could ensure the work progress. The Deputy CM also directed the Joint-Collectors and irrigation officials to conduct reviews at regular intervals.
While taking stock of the pending works under all three phases, he told the officials to take them to the notice of their respective collectors. He assured that he will take care of the issues that needed the intervention of minister concerned. Srihari stressed the need for organising a workshop for the irrigation engineers so that they could update with the changing times. He also emphasised that taking irrigation engineers on a study tour of Pakhal cheruvu could be helpful for them.
Referring to the shortage of data entry operators and work inspectors, the Deputy CM assured that the problem will be taken to the notice of the minister concerned. Mahabubabad MP A Sitaram Naik stressed the need for quick completion of works related to Ramappa cheruvu beautification and the check dam across the Jampanna vagu.
Parkal MLA Challa Dharma Reddy sought the engineers to speed up the construction of mini tank bund in Parkal. Legislators Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy and Shankar Naik have also raised the issues pertaining to their constituencies. Warangal Urban District Collector Amrapali Kata, ZP Chairperson G Padma, Warangal MP Pasunuri Dayakar, Chief Engineer Shyam Prasad and Superintending Engineer Anjaneya Prasad were among others present.
