Cops told to reduce road accidents by 30% this year
Commissioner of Police (CP) V Ravinder advised the police officials to make committed efforts to reduce road accidents by 30 per cent this year under Warangal police commissionerate.
Hanamkonda: Commissioner of Police (CP) V Ravinder advised the police officials to make committed efforts to reduce road accidents by 30 per cent this year under Warangal police commissionerate.
He asked the officials to identify accident-prone areas under different police stations limits, in association with the departments concerned. Sign boards cautioning the commuters and speed limit boards have to be put up in those areas, he said during a monthly crime review meeting here on Thursday.
He also wanted the cops to take stringent steps against those resorting to rowdyism and extortion. The details of rowdy elements in all the police stations should be compiled and a close watch on their activities has to be maintained. Any complaint lodged against any rowdy should immediately be registered, he noted. Similarly, efforts should be made to book those committing repeat offenses under PD Act.
Those already booked under the act have to be convicted in the court of law by gathering sufficient evidences, the Commissioner suggested. Additional measures needed to be taken towards installation of CCTV cameras with public participation under ‘Nenu Saitham’ initiative. The cameras have to be installed in such a manner that they cover main roads, parking lots, and important locations.
In view of the ensuing gram panchayat polls, officials and village police officers have to visit villages frequently and maintain cordial relations with the villagers, the commissioner Ravinder advised.
He informed that free training under Sumarg, in association with different NGOs, is being offered to help the local youth to secure jobs in police department for which the government has issued notification.
Nearly 250 candidates in Warangal city, 1,000 in Narsampet division and 450 in Jangaon district were being offered the training, he added. DCPs Venkat Reddy, Malla Reddy and Venkateshwarlu, Additional DCPs Ashok Kumar and Pooja, inspectors and sub-inspectors took part in the meeting.
