More Eco-friendly urinals coming up at Hyderabad Metro stations

With the eco-friendly urinals at Miyapur, Kukatpally, JNTU and Rasoolpura Metro stations becoming a success, the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) has to install the facility at other stations across Hyderabad.

These facilities convert urine into safe water, which is directed to a soak pit through a channel and can be used for plants. Equipped with three toilets for men, each urinal costs about Rs 3 lakh each.
HMRL Managing Director NVS Reddy said the people at the four Metro stations are using these urinals and so far no complaints pertaining to maintenance and hygiene have been received. He stated that the present urinals are for men and the company has been directed to develop similar facilities for women as well.
