Mahbubnagar: In a bizarre incident, the farmers of Makthal mandal received notices from the mining officials to pay crore of rupees as fine for illegally digging out and transport silt from the Pedda Cheruvu Lake.

Aggrieved over the attitude of the mining officials, the farmers along with the BJP party workers staged a protest at the Ambedkar cross road and demanded that the government to immediately look into the matter and take action against the erring officials.

In fact, the silting of lake was being done by some private contractor under Mission Kakatiya, however, it is alleged that the contractor had dug out the silt from the lake and deposited it into the fields of the farmers by taking money. The mining officials from nowhere came into the picture and issued notices to the innocent farmers to pay penalty for digging out the silt.

With this the BJP party leaders along with the farmers held a protest at the attitude of the mining officials and demanded that cases should be booked against the contractor, the concerned revenue officials and mining officials who have all acted hand in glove and now black mailing the farmers to pay penalties.
