Nagarkurnool: As many as 14 peacocks were found dead in Gaggallapally village in Nagarkurnool district on Wednesday. According to veterinary officials, it is suspected that these peacocks might have fed on poisonous insecticides used by farmers in their fields to save their crops.

The officials have shifted the dead bodies of the peacocks to veterinary hospital in Nagarkurnool for conducting post mortem. “We had received information about the dead peacocks in fields of Gagollapally and after primary inspection we have come to a conclusion that these peacocks might have fed on poisonous insecticide crystals used by the farmers in their fields,” said a Veterinary official from Nagarkurnool.

“To further ascertain the reasons of the deaths of these birds we have shifted the carcasses to the veterinary hospital and conducting post mortem. After that we will dispose off them by burring them in the ground,” he said.
