Khammam: District Collector RV Karnan here on Monday directed the officials of departments concerned to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India for discharging their duties.
In view of upcoming Assembly elections a three-day training session was organised for the Returning Officers (RO) and Assistant Returning Officers (ARO) of erstwhile Khammam district here at Pragna Conference hall at the Collectorate in Khammam.
Speaking on the occasion, RV Karnan suggested the officials to reject the nomination of candidates who are not eligible as per the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India.
Kothagudem Forest Officer and Master Trainee Ram Babu explained the Returning and Assistant Returning Officers the eligibility criteria of a candidate, allotment of symbols to the contesting candidates, receiving of nominations, scrutiny of nominations, rejection of nominations, expenditure details, preparation of the list of candidates who are in the race, arrangements of EVMs, number of vehicles to be used etc., through power point presentation.
Training was also given to ROs and AROs about the functioning of EVMs and VV PATS and their utilisation, counting of votes and declaration of results of elections in the second session of the training programme.
Joint Collector Ayesha Masrath Khanam, Special Election Officer Hanumanthu Kodimba, In-charge District Revenue Officer Madan Gopal, Returning Officers Indumathi, Shivaji, Dasharath and Kothagudem District Returning Officers attended the training programme.
