Rasta roko over no water supply

Andole: Holding empty vessels, villagers of Rampur in Alladurg mandal on Friday staged a ‘rasta roko’ demonstration for three hours on the Hyderabad-Nanded National Highway protesting against lack of water supply for the last one week. They alleged that despite complaints none was bothered about their plight. Following the demo vehicular traffic on the highway was stalled.

The police who tried to intervene and persuade the demonstrators telephoned the Water Works department officials after the villagers insisted that they be summoned, while accusing them of negligence. The officials assured the police that the water supply would be restored within two days, following which the protest was called off.
