Mahbubnagar: The public hearing held at Peddapally village under Jadcherla mandal on Friday witnessed many people opposing the setting up of pharma company near their village.

The villagers demanded that the pharmaceutical company give an assurance that it will ensure “zero pollution” in the event of the government deciding to establish the bulk drug company in the vicinity of the village.

Joint Collector Venkat Rao, who held the public hearing, patiently listened to the people expressing their concerns over the decision to set up the company.

Earlier, the Emmennar Pharma Private Limited Pharma company authorities, who held the public hearing, sought the presence of police to ensure peace.

While speaking on the occasion, the company management claimed that they had received all the environmental clearances and they would ensure little or no pollution. The company representatives assured the people that there is no need for panic.

“The Emmennar Pharma Company has got all the clearances relating to pollution control norms and will promise that there will be zero pollution,” said the company authorities.

A group of social activists expressed their concerns and submitted a memorandum to the Joint Collector. They also urged the Joint Collector to see that the company management gives priority to locals in employment.

More than 200 people from the surrounding villages were present on the occasion. Srinivas, RDO Mahbubnagar, Srinivas Reddy, Tahsildar Jadcherla, were present.
