People told to conserve water segregate waste
GHMC Commissioner M Dana Kishore made a fervent appeal to the citizens not to release water on by lanes, streets and main roads and to conserve precious water He further requested the households to segregate the wet and dry the garbage and hand over it to the auto trolley drivers from now onwards
Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner M Dana Kishore made a fervent appeal to the citizens not to release water on by lanes, streets and main roads and to conserve precious water. He further requested the households to segregate the wet and dry the garbage and hand over it to the auto trolley drivers from now onwards.The city is having a population of one crore where around 25 to 30,000 sanitation workers are maintaining the sanitation process in this context, he requested every citizen to behave with a responsibility with regard to sanitation and drinking water for keeping the city clean and living in healthier environment, said the Commissioner.
An awareness campaign in coordination with HMWS&SB and GHMC with regard to conservation of water and sanitation was conducted at Sitaphalmandi community hall here on Friday, where around 100 people including residents, public representatives, ward committee members and concerned area corporator participated in the campaign.
Most of the citizens present said that they were forced to release the water on roads, especially in morning hours, as initially, polluted water was coming for a period of 10 minutes. Responding to the issue, Dana Kishore said that action would be taken on priority to ensure that polluted water does not come in drinking water pipelines. He requested the participants to use stoppers while collecting the water from the taps.
One of the resident suggested to give voice messages in the morning hours from mosques, temples, churches and gurudwaras about conservation of prestigious water and on segregation of garbage, so that the message reaches maximum number citizens in the early hours. Appreciating the suggestion, the Commissioner assured that voice-cum-audio messages would be broadcasted very shortly as desired.
The Commissioner requested the corporator to select a representative from each basti and form a committee of 5 to 10 people to prepare an action plan on civic issues faced by locals.The Commissioner directed the Zonal Commissioner Raghu Prasad to coordinate with the concerned corporator and ward member to constitute a committee in a day or two and to submit the action plan by February 6, so that a meeting with the committee members would be taken up on February 7.
Raja Shekar, GM, HMWS&SB, Ravi, Deputy Commissioner, and senior officials from HMWS&SB and GHMC participated in the awareness campaign.
