Medchal: District Collector M V Reddy on Wednesday directed the police and revenue department officials of Medchal-Malkajgiri district to strive for working in tandem in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections in a few months from now.
Addressing a review meeting at the Collectorate along with Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwath, he said that in accordance with the orders of Chief Electoral Officer, the police, nodal officials and IROs should coordinate with each other properly.
The District Collector said that the final list of voters was published on February 22. Yet, if there were any eligible voters they should be registered immediately. New voters could be registered ten days before the issuance of the poll notification in ‘Mee Seva’ or online.
Reddy told the meeting that all basic facilities like water/power supply, latrines, wheel chairs, ramps, transport for differently abled persons would be provided in all voting stations across the district. Large-scale awareness programmes on enrolment of voters by the Chunav Pathashala, voting percentage, voting without succumbing to temptations, EVMs, Citizen Vigil (c Vigil) App and complaints on poll-related issues to the district election control room(1950) were being organised.
The DC said that the officials concerned were making efforts to enroll all eligible differently-abled persons aged above 18 after undertaking a door-to-door survey and to make use their right to vote.
Also training sessions for the nodal/sectoral officers, MCC teams have been completed. He disclosed that CCTV cameras/webcasting would be installed at problematic and extremely sensitive polling
centres.
Reddy said that all teams were ready to discharge their duties after the election notification was issued. He advised officials to focus attention on postal ballots.
In his address, Commissioner Bhagawath said that a nodal police officer would be appointed for each Assembly segment. Those appointed would be given training on polling. He directed officials to make sure that no posters/writings were pasted on compound walls and also told them to remove banners after the issuance of the poll notification.
Among those present were DRO Madhukar Reddy, Malkajgiri DCP Sharma, Balanagar ACP Padmaja Reddy, police/nodal officials, IROs and AIROs.
