Moves afoot to fill up 34,450 existing vacancies

Hyderabad: The State government, which is making efforts to fill up the vacancies in different departments by January 2014, has created 85,000 new posts in different departments besides giving clearance for filling up 34,450 existing vacancies. The Chief Minister gave his nod on Thursday for creating new posts as well as to fill up the vacancies. The move was said to be a record of sorts in the state history.

The necessary notifications would soon be issued by involving recruiting agencies such as Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission, A P Police Recruitment Board and District Selection Committees.

The government has identified 20,790 posts in primary school education department and 10,730 in police department for the purpose and they would be filled up in the first phase of the exercise.Besides this, another 2,930 vacancies identified in different departments would also be filled up immediately. In addition to this some 4,808 vacancies were yet to be filled up in intermediate education.

The department-wise break up of vacancies considered for filling up are: Transco and Discoms 3,208, family welfare 2,234, AP Genco 1,303, AP Viadya Vidana Parishad 974, CCLA 6, medical education 963, fire services 886, Ayush 729, collegiate education 685, residential education 684, forest 600, employment and Training 577, commercial taxes 573, treasuries 407, prisons 383, excise 364, survey and land records 342, animal husbandry 290, town planning 288, technical education 286, irrigation (AW) 277, agriculture 236, public health 225, civil supplies corporation 223, SAAP 194, Special Protection Force 185, endowments 180, Horticulture University 167; APCO 162, roads and buildings 135, Finance (Director of Insurance) 113 and general administration 104 and finance and works and accounts 103.
