Vizianagaram: The supporters of Samaikyandhra laid siege to the Central government offices under the aegis of TDP here on Thursday. The agitators, who staged several protests like ‘vanta vaarpu’, ralllies and rasta rokos are targeting the Central government offices and disrupting the duties of the officials.
As part of agitation, the agitators staged protests in front of head post office and telephone exchange and stopped the officials, who came for duty. They appealed to them to cooperate with them by boycotting their duties in support of united State agitation. Therefore, the officials, who had come to the office, went back without attending to the duties.
TDP politburo member P Ashok Gajapathi Raju, district party president Dwarampudi Jagadish and other leaders took part in the protests. Speaking on the occasion, the leaders alleged that the UPA government was keeping mum despite the people belonging to all walks of life taking part in the agitation for the past 44 days. They demanded the Centre to rollback the decision on bifurcation and asserted that the agitation will continue till the Centre takes back its decision.
On the other hand, mass plantation drive was launched as a mark of protest under the auspices of Congress party. Sixty feet National Flag was displayed in Salur and in Parvartipuram NGOs took out a massive rally in support of unified State. Similarly, a bike rally was taken out by the YSRCP at Kurupam.
