Vizianagaram: State-unit secretary of Lok Satta Party Bheeshetty Babji flayed the State government for allegedly insulting prominent literary figure Gurajada Apparao. On the occasion of relay hunger strike at Gurajada statue on Sunday, Bheeshetty Babji said that Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, minister Vatti Vasantha Kumar and district in-charge minister Botcha Satyanarayana made many promises to set up two Kalamandirams as memorials at Hyderabad and Vizianagaram, each at a cost of Rs 2 crore. They said that Gurajada’s house would be renovated at a cost of Rs 15 lakh and made into a tourist centre. Also they promised to bring out a postal stamp on Gurajada.
All the promises and foundation stones laid for the projects are staring at the people, he flayed. Due to the insult to the great literary figure Gurajada, his fans in the literary and cultural fields are mentally disturbed, he said. If the State government does not come out with an explanation, no one from the Government side will be allowed to participate in the 151st Gurajada Jayanthi to be organised on September 21, he said. Party district unit secretary Dayanand Sharma said that Gurajada who realised the attitude of leaders and officials long back had said in his Kanya Sulkam drama that they were mere foolish (Manavallu Otti Vedhavailoy). Leaders Chintalapudi Appalaraju, R Sudhakar, PV Ramana, Molleti Naidu, Thippanna Koteshwar Rao, Sivarama Rao, Damodar, M Subhadra Devi and MSN Raju participated.
