‘Rajiv a matchless leader of India’

Visakhapatnam: Rich tributes were paid to the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at a function held on the RK Beach Road here on Tuesday on the occasion of his birth anniversary. Tribal Welfare Minister P Balaraju and MLA Malla Vijay Prasad garlanded the statue of Rajiv Gandhi after performing ‘Panchamruthabhishekam’ and paid floral tributes.

They described Rajiv as a matchless personality who worked for the economic development of the country and was instrumental in bringing ‘IT’ revolution in the country. At another function organised by Sri Gayatri Welfare and Cultural Youth Academy in Maharanipet area, Senior Civil Judge Justice K Surya Rao garlanded the portrait of Rajiv and paid tributes. Among others, S Lakshminarayana, S Srilakshmi, freedom fighter R Visalakshi and Academy president R Ravi Kumar were present.

The birthday of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was celebrated at the residence of Rajya Sabha member T Subbarami Reddy here on Tuesday. Among others, City Congress president Behra Bhaskara Rao, City Congress Mahila president Pedada Ramani Kumari, party senior leaders Y Mariadas, M Satyanarayana Raju and Sk Bhasha garlanded the portrait of Rajiv and paid tributes.
