Four orphaned girls seek help

Dornakal: An octogenarian woman requested the authorities concerned and the government to take care of her four grandchildren, who were left orphaned after their parents’ death.

According to the children’s grandmother, Banoth Venkanna (35) and his wife Sarada (30) were residents of Sakramnaik Thanda on the outskirts of Kampalli village in Kuravi mandal and had four daughters - Rajeswari (12), Sarita (10), Sandhya (10) and Chitti (4).

Sarada developed kidney problem. Venkanna disposed his two-acre land to provide treatment to his wife but she succumbed as her kidneys were badly damaged. Venkanna worked as a labourer to support the family.

After a few days, he developed high fever and was diagnosed as anemic. Unable to afford the treatment, he died leaving the children to the custody of their grandmother.

The 80-year-old-woman couldn’t work due to her age and goes from house-to-house seeking alms to feed the children. Lamenting at her helplessness, she requested the people to take provide food and shelter to the children.
