District in-charge Collector S Prabhakar Reddy chaired a meeting with Tahsildars to discuss the distribution of Bathukamma sarees on the occasion of Bathukamma festival, at his chamber here on Friday.

Stating that many people, especially women, across the Telangana State will celebrate Bathukamma festival on a grand note, Reddy said to add extra happiness to their lives, the government has decided to distribute sarees to the women across the State on September 18 and 19.

Irrespective of caste and religion, sarees will be presented to every woman in the State on the occasion of the State festival.

Special mandal officer, Mandal Parishad Development Officer and APO will be appointed for each mandal to supervise the sarees distribution along with selecting real beneficiaries to prevent irregularities.

The women must bring their Aadhar cards as a proof to determine their age, the in-charge Collector informed. MPPs and local people’s representatives will distribute the sarees in schools and village panchayats. All the officials of concerned departments must participate in the distribution process to make it successful, he suggested.

Referring to the proposed land survey, the In-charge Collector advised the officials to immediately upload the details online. He said the land records should be filed on the basis of core banking, with details of dates of land purchase/sale transactions.

They should take steps to ensure that there would be not be any land disputes in future. The In-charge Collector wanted the officials to record the limits of forest lands, finalise the village limits and record details of the lands acquired by the State from farmers.

Prabhakar Reddy said the lands acquired were still recorded as farms lands. This status should be changed in a fool-proof and transparent manner, without causing any hardship to the public.

In-charge district revenue officer Ashok Kumar, rural development officer Padmaiah and tahsildars were present along with others.
