Warangal: The Warangal MP, Pasunuri Dayakar, has on Friday appealed the non-governmental organisations to extend health services to tribals in the district by organising health camps at their hamlets.

He urged the rural folks to quit bad habits to maintain their health condition and also asked the NGOs to offer de-addition services to the villagers. The MP addressed a gathering at a mega health camp organised at Manugonda of Geesukonda mandal in Warangal rural district.

While lauding the services of Sarvodaya, Dayakar suggested the organisation to organise health camps where the need is more. Failure to maintain good health would have both social and economic ramifications in the villages, he added.

The health camp was conducted by Sarvodaya in association with ‘Hand of Hope’ the mission arm of Joyce Meyer Ministries. The representative of Hand of Hope, Dr Shirley David Raj said serving the poor was a godsend opportunity.

Parkal MLA Ch Dharma Reddy said that lack of quality health services in rural areas has been leaving a grave impact on the health of aged persons and women. Bad habits and pressures have been damaging health of youth. Organising health camps in rural areas would greatly help to address those issues.

Sarvodaya secretary Dr P Damodar informed that health camps were conducted at different villages in Sangem, Parkal and Geesukonda mandals for the past three days. About 3,470 patients were provided health checkups, medical tests and distributed medicines freely.

A team comprising six doctors and 15 supporting staff took part in the camps. In the days to come, steps would be taken to conduct more health camps in rural areas and tribal hamlets. He thanked the medical team and public representatives for their cooperation in conducting the camps.

In order to address the issue of health problems among rural folks, Sarvodaya has been conducting regular health camps in several villages for the past five years with a focus on women and elderly persons, he added.
