Efforts are on to curb gudumba menace
In a bid to curb gudumba (illicit liquor) menace, the State government is taking several measures, Tourism and Tribal Welfare Minister A Chandulal said.
Mulugu (Bhupalpally): In a bid to curb gudumba (illicit liquor) menace, the State government is taking several measures, Tourism and Tribal Welfare Minister A Chandulal said.
“The government is giving priority to eliminate gudumba, while rehabilitating those families involved in bootlegging,” he said, speaking at a programme here on Wednesday. The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao, had thought that rehabilitating those involved in the brewing of gudumba is the only solution to curb the flow of illicit liquor, Chandulal said.
The district administration is able to control gudumba menace since the rehabilitation programme was initiated, he said.On the occasion, the Minister distributed financial support to 16 families, who previously involved in illicit liquor brewing, of Kannayigudem mandal worth Rs 2.32 lakh.
The Minister also distributed Rs 1.20 lakh cheques to those injured in road and fire accidents under Tribal Relief Fund scheme. This apart, 14 beneficiaries under Kalyana Lakshmi scheme also received cheques from Chandulal.
Earlier, Minister Chandulal paid tributes to social reformer Mahatma Jyotirao Phule on the occasion of his 192nd birth anniversary. Stating that Phule strived for upliftment of the deprived sections, he said as per the great man’s aspirations, every individual should get education to usher in social equality.
He stressed the need for drawing inspiration from Phule.ITDA Project Officer V Chakradhar Rao and Mulugu RDO Rama Devi were among others present.
