The 2024 Breeders' Cup is a thrilling two-day event that showcases some of the finest Thoroughbred racing talent from around the world. It's like the championship of horse racing, bringing together top horses, trainers, and jockeys for a weekend of intense competition. While it doesn't officially crown any champions, it sets the stage for the prestigious Eclipse Awards later in the month.

Known for its competitive races, the Breeders' Cup is a favorite among horse racing fans and bettors alike. Each race is filled with skilled contenders, making it an exciting opportunity for betting and handicapping.

This year's Breeders' Cup Classic doesn't have a clear favorite like Flightline from last year, who won convincingly. However, there are still plenty of contenders vying for the title.

One heartwarming story to watch is Cody's Wish, who had a remarkable win in the Dirt Mile last year and is returning to defend his title.

While horse racing is all about the captivating stories, it's also heavily focused on this betting aspect. That's why we'll be eagerly awaiting Friday and Saturday to delve into all 14 races and provide insights for both enthusiasts and bettors alike.

When is the 2024 Breeders Cup?

In 2024 & 2025, the Breeders' Cup will return to San Diego's iconic racing venue: Del Mar, where the turf meets the surf.

What horses are in the 2024 Breeders Cup?

Del Mar has had the Breeders' Cup twice before, but this time it's special because it's happening two years in a row.

The CEO of Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, Joe Harper, says the Breeders' Cup is a huge deal for horse racing. It's not just one race but a whole bunch of races for different kinds of horses.

Right now, it's the middle of fall, and fans are excited about the Breeders' Cup coming up. One fan, Ron Ferrise, had a great time last time the event was in Del Mar, even though he didn't win much.

The Breeders' Cup, a prestigious international event in Thoroughbred horse racing, announced on November 8th that the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club will host the Breeders' Cup World Championships for two consecutive years in 2024 and 2025.

Located in San Diego County along the Pacific Ocean, Del Mar, known as "Where the turf meets the surf," will host the Breeders' Cup for the fourth time. Previous editions were held in 2017, 2021, and it was already announced as the host for 2024. The 42nd World Championships will feature 14 grade 1 races with prizes totaling over $31 million. The event is scheduled to take place on Friday, October 31, and Saturday, November 1, 2025.

Drew Fleming, president and CEO of Breeders' Cup Limited, expressed enthusiasm about returning to Del Mar for consecutive years, emphasizing the successful partnership with the track and the broader San Diego area. He highlighted the commitment to California horse racing and anticipated a remarkable showcase of the world's best Thoroughbreds.

Del Mar, renowned for its picturesque setting and esteemed race meetings, previously expanded its luxury seating options for the 2017 Breeders' Cup. The event set a record for on-track wagering over two days and contributed an estimated $96.8 million to the economy of San Diego County.

Joe Harper, CEO of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, conveyed excitement about hosting back-to-back Breeders' Cup World Championships and welcoming top international racing talent to Del Mar and the wider San Diego region. He attributed the Breeders' Cup's return to the area to the quality of racing facilities, pleasant weather, and warm hospitality extended by the local community.
