Hyderabad: The BR Ambedkar's statue installed at Punjagutta Circle was damaged and later transported in a garbage truck and dumped at the dumping yard in Jawaharnagar on Saturday night. Jawaharnagarpolice arrested two GHMC employeesin this connection on Sunday.

They seized GHMC garbage lorry and broken pieces of the statue at near dumping yard. According to police, they received a complaint on Saturday by P Ram Murthy, a social worker and State president of Telangana Mala Mahandu by stating that Dr B R Ambedkar's statue was damaged at Panjagutta X Road and was shifted in GHMC lorry to the dumping yard at Jawaharangar by loading under the garbage.

When the garbage was unloaded at dumping yard the broken pieces of the statue were found. When police enquired the driver he revealed that on the instructions of GHMC officials he brought the same.

They requested to take necessary action against the officials who passed the orders, those who removed the statue and loaded into lorry under SC, ST Atrocity Act and do justice.

Based on the complaint a case was registered under sections 3 (1) (r) and (t) of SC ST POA Act and Section 427 IPC and took up investigation.

On credible information, on Saturday they arrested D Raju,35, GHMC lorry driver at Jawaharnagar near dumping yard and produced before thecourt.

Later they arrested BheemGuptha,29, a native of Nepal, and produced before thecourt on Sunday.

The investigation is in progress to establish the identity of other culprits Balraj and Srikanth who are working as supervisors at Yousufguda dumping yard and other GHMC officials who are absconding.
