Bird flu scare: 120 chicken die in Telangana's Warangal

Gadda Saraiah said that he was raising the chicken for the last few months and around 120 chickens died one after another in the last two months. He said that he was earning his livelihood by selling the chicken and has suffered a loss of Rs one lakh with the death of the birds.
Veterinary doctor of Bhimadevarapalli Malati examined the dead chicken and sent the samples to the Warangal area veterinary hospital for testing from where the samples were shifted to Hyderabad.
Earlier, the animal husbandry minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said that there are no cases of bird flu in the state and deployed special teams to be in contact with the poultry farms to tackle the bird flu spread.
On Thursday, the state forest department directed the officials to take steps to identify the causes of death of any bird in Telangana. R Sobha, the state's principal chief conservator of forests and chief wildlife warden, said that orders have been issued to the zoo authorities in Hyderabad and Warangal, besides different birds and wildlife sanctuaries in the state to constitute teams for holding patrols in regions where migratory birds meet.
