Candidates kickstart high-decibel campaign in Khammam

Khammam: The candidates for the Khammam Lok Sabha seat have started high decibel campaign in the district with an aim to attract voters.

With the scrutiny of nominations for the Lok Sabha polls ending on Tuesday, it is now clear who would be contesting the polls. Of the 34 nominations filed for the Khammam Parliamentary constituency, five nominations were rejected and 29 were accepted by the authorities concerned. Thus, the main event of campaigning has begun on Wednesday, with every candidate planning to cover all the seven Assembly constituencies within the Lok Sabha territorial by the April 9 evening.

With only 13 days left for the campaigning, the leaders are planning to grab people's attention in the short span by promoting their manifestos and promising development of their constituencies besides roping in the star campaigners.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi candidate Nama Nageswara Rao started his campaign from Mulkalpalli village in Ashwaraopeta constituency on Wednesday. The campaign started at 10 am and continued through the villages of Chandrugonda, Annapurreddipalli, Palvoncha and Julurupadu mandals. The first day of campaigning was organised in the mandals of Ashwaraopeta, Kothagudem and Wyra constituencies.

Former Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, TRS MLAs, former MLAs, MLC Palla Rajeswar Reddy, Tata Madhu, Nukala Naresh Reddy and others will also take part in Nama's campaign. Party working president KT Rama Rao will tour Khammam on April 8. Ministers of other districts are also expected to visit Khammam as TRS is trying hard to emerge victorious in the constituency.

Similarly, Congress candidate Renuka Chowdhury also planned a route map for her campaign process at a meeting held with party leaders on Wednesday. CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, AICC leaders, Khammam LS constituency in-charge and former minister Sambani Chandrasekhar and several district Congress leaders will participate in the campaign. Party leaders said that their star campaigner Vijayashanti and working president Revanth Reddy will also participate in the campaign.

Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Vasudeva Rao also met the party's district leaders. State secretary Kondapalli Sridhar Reddy, District president Sanne Uday Pratap, state leaders Vidyasagar Rao, district leaders Motukur Narayana Rao and others started campaigning for Vasudev's victory. Union Minister Rajnath Singh and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman are also expected to attend the election campaign of Rao.

The CPM candidate, B Venkat, has already started election campaign. He was selected as the joint Left candidate. CPM state secretary Pothineni Sudarshan and district secretary Nunna Nageswara Rao and leaders of both communist parties are going to participate in the campaign. Along with Tammineni Veerabhadram and Chada Venkat Reddy, other CPM and CPI national leaders are also planning to be part of Venkat's campaign.
