Chintalapalem (Suryapet): The villagers of Dondapadu of Chintalapalem in Suryapet district on Wednesday obstructed the public hearing of SGR Synthetic Organic Chemical Industry to be established with an estimated cost of 11 crore in the village.

Villagers staged a protest soon after the public hearing was started and brought down the tents, vandalised the premises and raised slogans against the management of the factory. However, the police dispersed the protestors from the venue of public hearing.

The protestors on the occasion demanded the officials do not to pollute villages adjacent to Krishna River belt in the name of setting up of industries. With this, the officials of Pollution Control Board put off the programme.

A few villagers, speaking to the media, informed that groundwater in Donadpadu village was already polluted due to existing factories such as Zuari Cements, Mylon and Rakim chemical factories and stated that they would not allow anybody to start a new factory in the village in the interest of environment and health of people of the region.
