Eatala swings into action, asks doctors to end strike
Health Minister Eatala Rajender on Saturday assured the agitating doctors that he would take apprehensions expressed by them in regard to National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill to the notice of Chief Minister K Chandrshekar Rao.
Hyderabad: Health Minister Eatala Rajender on Saturday assured the agitating doctors that he would take apprehensions expressed by them in regard to National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill to the notice of Chief Minister K Chandrshekar Rao.
The Minister, in a meeting with the doctors, urged the latter to resume their duties and not to leave the patients in lurch. Rajender reached out to doctors' fraternity in the State over the NMC row.
He has been in touch with IMA (Indian Medical Association) Telangana unit office-bearers, who have represented their concerns of the doctors to the authorities.
The IMA members appealed to the Telangana government to take a proactive role and muster the support of non-BJP ruled States on the issue and mount pressure on the Centre to make amendments to certain clauses.
Also, the Minister got in touch with members of Telangana Junior Doctors Association, who already on protest path.
The junior doctors boycotted duties including emergencies in teaching hospitals like Osmania, Gandhi, Kakatiya (Warangal), RIMS (Adilabad).
He had called the doctors for a meeting to request them to withdraw the strike and also take their feedback and inputs on the NMC Bill that got passed in both houses of Parliament a few days ago.
According to doctors, the Health Minister assured them that he take their concerns to the notice of the Chief Minister shortly. The doctors, however, decided to continue the strike.
