Refers to Indian Army clarification and calls doubts baseless and unsubstantiated

Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, G Kishan Reddy lashed out at those questioning the veracity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the General Hospital at Leh on Friday.

Quoting the clarification given by the armed forces, Kishan Reddy took to Twitter on Saturday calling raising questions over the status of the facility was malicious and unsubstantiated accusations.

It may be mentioned here that the PM as part of his visit to the forward-posts in Leh on Friday had also visited and interacted with the recouping soldiers who were injured while fighting back the Chinese soldiers trying to encroach upon the Indian territory in the Galwan valley.

Kishan Reddy referred to the clarification given by the Indian Army on the issue, in which, it said, "It is unfortunate that aspersions are being cast on how our brave Armed Forces are treated. The Armed Forces give the best possible treatment to their personnel."

The communique of the Army said the facility visited by PM Modi was part of the Crisis Expansion capacity of 100 beds and is very much part of the General Hospital complex.

The Covid-19 protocol had necessitated some wards of the General Hospital to be converted into isolation facilities.

Hence, this hall which otherwise was normally used as a Training Audio Video Hall has been converted into a medical ward ever since the hospital was designated as Covid treatment hospital.

The injured bravehearts have been kept there since their arrival from Galwan to ensure quarantine from Covid areas.

The Chief of Army Staff General M M Naravane and the Army Commander have also visited the injured soldiers in the same location, it said.
