Hyderabad: Even as AICC in-charge for Telangana was engrossed in consultations with Congress functionaries from various levels for last few days to take their views on who is the suitable candidate as the next PCC Chief for Telangana, Congress legislators expressed their dissent over the propaganda in social media in favour of a party leader.

They expressed doubts on the consultations process being done to select the next TPCC President. The legislators' delegation led by Jagga Reddy who was also joined by MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy also called on Tagore to seek clarification on the issue. Earlier a CLP meeting was held by them about their future and how to counter the campaign carried out in the social media.

Jagga Reddy was highly critical of the social media speculations, which he felt would do more damage to the party.

Speaking to media about he said that whatever decision is taken it should be through consensus and there should be no unilateral decision on the next TPCC Chief. " Whether it is a Reddy leader or a BC or SC leader... the TPCC Chief should be selected in a fair manner.

People who have been with Congress from the beginning should be given consideration. Tagore is going to New Delhi in the evening and hence we want to make our stand clear. If anything goes wrong in this process Tagore and KC Venugopal should be held responsible," he said, expressing doubts whether the mood and sentiments of the party cadre are being conveyed properly to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. Jagga Reddy told that Tagore was clearly told that any unilateral decision will pose risk to the party's future and also the existence of the party functionaries who were associated with it for a long time.

Also speaking later after the meeting, Jagga Reddy said that he cannot disclose the reasons for holding the CLP meeting, but informed that they met Tagore so that Telangana Congress does not get split.

He said they conveyed views on this subject individually two days ago and again on Saturday with a delegation consisting of three MLAs and MP. Tagore was told about the social media campaign which should not form the basis for finalising the next president.
