Mahbubnagar: Mayuri eco-park, a destination to beat weekday blues

Mahbubnagar: The Mayuri Eco Tourism Park in Mahbubnagar district has become the hot destination for schoolchildren, parents, couples, youngsters, sportspersons and also the elderly as the park has been designed to meet the requirements of each and every age group to help them spend some quality time on weekends.

Day-after-day, the Tourism and the Forest department authorities are adding some thing or the other to attract the tourists not only from within the district but also from across the State to enjoy the beauty of the mountains, hills and various theme parks built inside the 2,000-hectare park.

Located about 8 kilometres away from the district headquarters and lying on the National Highway 167 between the twin towns of Mahbubnagar and Jadcherla, the Mayuri Eco Tourism Park has been the apt destination for people who want to spend their weekends amid greenary. As the National Highway 44 connecting Hyderabad and Bengaluru is just about 5 kilometres from the park, the park is attracting over one lakh tourists per month with an average in flow of about 3,000 to 4,000 visitors a day.

Initially started with an investment of Rs 3 crore, the forest officials along with the Tourism department officials built various facilities like children's play park, butterfly park, yoga centre, Nakshatravanam- a park with various themes of horoscope, medicinal plants park, green lawns, swan park, rabbit and bird enclosure etc. However, as more and more facilities continued to get added day after day, more funds have been pumped in.

For ensuring that tourists have all kinds of facilities in the park, a food court and few stalls along with toilet facilities have also been built inside the park. In addition to basic facilities, the Forest and the Tourism department authorities to accommodate youngsters and sportspersons also installed rope walk, sky cycling and trekking on the hilly slopes.

Commenting on the various facilities available for the tourists, a visitor, Anusha, said, "We never believed that Mahbubnagar district will have such a beautiful park catering to the children, youth and the elders at one place. It is really great effort by the local leaders who have really made this happen. Earlier, we used to visit Pillalamarri. But now, we have two places to boast off in Mahbubnagar. All facilities are available and people coming here really spend their quality time on weekends."Not just that, those who want to practise shooting and archery can also visit this park and spend their quality time.

Recently, Tourism Minster K Srinivas Goud along with District Collector Ronald Rose launched the Rain Forest region, where in as many as 8 powerful sprinklers are installed to spray waters over a spread of 4 acres in the park to develop the rain forest. "We want to make Mayuri Eco Tourism Park as Telangana's largest and most attractive tourism spots in the State. We have left no stone unturned to make this dream park happen in our district. Recently, we have inaugurated a Bamboo Guest house and also constructed a min-convention hall in the park to conduct meetings. Overall, we want to develop this park a multi-purpose park, where in, it will not only cater to the needs of tourists and visitors every day, but it will also host official meetings," observed Srinivas Goud.

Apart from the existing facilities, the State government is also planning to make this park further vibrant by adding more advanced facilities. The State government is also planning to build a amphitheatre, swimming pool and an animal enclosure to attract more tourists.

As part of this, the Minister Srinivas Goud had asked the concerned Park Manager and Tourism department officials to prepare a detailed draft plan so that the park could be further equipped with a cable car project connecting the Bhairava Gutta to the park.

The Minister had also asked the officials to send proposals for construction of an open air theatre and an air-conditioned hall for conducting various cultural events and programmes in the park. The Minister had also directed the Deputy Engineer Srinivas Reddy to prepare designs to set up a laser show, musical show, dinosaur park and a trackless train.

"We want to make the Mayuri Eco-Tourism Park a world class tourism and recreational spot in the State. Already, the park is attracting a large number of tourists from across Mahbubnagar and from various other places. We want to add more facilities to attract tourists from across the country," said Srinivas Goud.
