MANUU signs MoU with Iran's Al-Mustafa International University
Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) today added another feather in its cap by entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Al-Mustafa International University (MIU), Iran.
Hyderabad: Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) today added another feather in its cap by entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Al-Mustafa International University (MIU), Iran. This is first academic collaboration by MANUU on International Level.
Al Mustafa International University, Qum, (Iran) is an International Academic, Islamic and University- style seminary institute established in 1979. It has International branches and affiliate schools.
MoU was signed by Dr. M.A. Sikandar, Registrar, MANUU & Dr. Mohammad Reza Saleh, Chief Representative of MIU in the presence of Dr. Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz, Vice-Chancellor, MANUU and Prof. Ali Abbasi, Vice-Chancellor & Dr. Hameed Jazaeri, Registrar of MIU. Both sides agreed to promote and broaden the activities of both institutions with the vision that it will be a new phase in rejuvenating the indo-Iran relations in order to facilitate the research and mutual exchanges of Scholars.
Collaboration between the two institutions will envisage, Research in the field of Humanities, Culture, History, Persian, Arabic, Urdu languages & literature, Management, Mass Communication, Islamic Studies etc.; Provision for scholarship at Masters & Doctorate level for the Scholars of MANUU; Establishment of Chair of Eminent scholars/students; Exchange of Scholars; International Seminars, Conferences and Symposia. MIU will also extend cooperation and support to establish Quli Qutub Shah Chair at MANUU so as to identify joint projects to work upon.
The MoU will remain in force for a period of three years.
Prof. Ali Abbasi, in his brief address referred to time tested cordial relations between Iran & India and expressed the hope that MoU will pave the way for mutual exchange of knowledge. He also presented the profile of MIU and offered sabbatical exchanges with MANUU. He extended an invitation to Dr. Aslam Parvaiz to visit Iran. Dr. Mohammad Aslam Parvaiz in his presidential address described MoU as a new beginning for MANUU. He also recalled the warmth & closeness between the two countries and expressed confidence that this step will further the momentum. Persian language is like a dress for Urdu, he reminded the audience. How to make Urdu a language of knowledge, we need to learn from Iran, with their successful Persian experience, he remarked.
Prof. Ayub Khan, Pro Vice-Chancellor, MANUU, Dr. M A Sikandar, Dr. Hameed Jazaeri and Dr. Reza Saleh also spoke. Prof. Saneem Fatima, Joint Dean, Academics conducted the proceedings and proposed vote of thanks. M G. Gunasekaran, Finance Officer, Prof. Shagufta Shaheen, Dean International Student's welcomed the gathering. Deans, Heads from School of languages & members of Iranian Delegates attended the event.
