The farmers were at the receiving end in the region as it is the harvesting season. They are worried that heavy rains during this time would only damage their crop at hand. Particularly, the maize and jowar crops farmers are expressing their concern over heavy rains during this season.

The heavy rains also caused lot of loss to business establishment in and around Kalwakurthy Mandal headquarters. Friday being the weekly fair, a lot of people usually come for buying groceries. However, the rains have forced them to stay indoors. "We have never seen such heavy rain in the last decade.

As Kharif is going to end, these rains are not of much use for the farmers as they are busy harvesting the crops. However, for those farmers who have already harvested, they can take up the second crop utilizing the rainwater," said Bhaskar a resident of Kalwakurthy. It is estimated that Kalwakurthy received nearly 8-10 centimeters of rain on a single day on Thursday.
