New Zilla Parishads get manpower,set to get cracking soon

Hyderabad: As the newly formed Zilla Parishads are all set to hold their first meeting on July 5, the Panchayat Raj Department has completed allocation of staff and officers to them.

The staff and the officers to the new ZPs were deputed from the existing nine ZPs. As many as 600 staff and officials have been distributed between the 32 Zilla Parishads.

The State Election Commission has conducted elections to the 32 Zilla Parishads, 23 new ZPs and nine old ZPs, in May and the chairpersons and vice chairpersons have been elected in the first week of June.

According to the rules, the new bodies have to take charge after the expiry of the term of the old bodies.

The term of the existing bodies would expire on July 4 and the first meeting of the new bodies would be conducted on July 5. The activities of the new bodies would begin after the first meeting.

The PR officials had begun the arrangements to allot staff and the officials in the third week of June to facilitate the smooth beginning of the term of the new ZP bodies.

As the 23 newly formed ZPs did not have buildings, the officials have provided them with the same. The allocation of the staff and officials has also been completed on Tuesday.

Officials of the Panchayat Raj have informed that the staff has been selected for the new ZPs based on their nativity and seniority. The staff of the old ZPs has been deputed to the new ZPs as per their nativity.

The staff of Nalgonda ZP has been distributed among Nalgonda, Suryapet and Bhuvanagiri. In the same way the staff of Mahbubnagar ZP has been distributed among Mahbubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Gadwal, Wanaparthy and Narayanapet.

There are about 60 personnel in each of the old Zilla Parishads and they have been distributed among the 32 reorganised ZPs. Each section of the ZP has been given about one employee.

Apart from this, the PR Department has also appointed Chief Executive Officers to the ZPs. The deputy CEOs of the ZPs have been promoted and have been appointed as the CEOs for the new ZPs.

The CEO would organise the meetings of the Zilla Parishads as per the rules. They are responsible for the implementation of the resolutions being adopted by the ZP general body meetings.

However, the chairperson and Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency members who would take charge from July 6 have to deal with their activities with the skeletal staff.
