As many as nine holidays for the banks in the state this month including Sundays. The banks would have been got 13 holidays if the strike proposed by the employees has not been deferred indefinitely.
The nine holidays include four Sundays (March 1,8,15,22 and 29), Holi festival on March 10, the second and fourth Saturdays (March 14 and 28), Ugadi festival on March 25. March 31, the end of the financial year is believed to be a bank holiday, but the bank officials clarified that it would be a working day.
Though there are nine holidays for the banks, the ATMs would not go dry. The Bank officials would ensure the ATM machines are deposited with cash, said an official from SBI.
The Bank unions are wanting a wage revision of 20 per cent hike on pay slip components and the Indian Banks Association (IBA) agreed to give up to 19 per cent hike, including performance-linked incentive, said BS Rambabu, secretary of the All India Bank Employees Association.
