Karimnagar Parliament constituency is one of the 489 constituencies that was formed during the first Lok Sabha and elections were held between October 1952 and February 1952.
Karimnagar: Karimnagar Parliament constituency is one of the 489 constituencies that was formed during the first Lok Sabha and elections were held between October 1952 and February 1952.
Karimnagar stood in the forefront during separate Telangana movement and gave moral boost to TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao.
It is evident that on number of occasions, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao said that he has sentimental attachment with Karimnagar and he started several new initiatives from Karimnagar as he will treat it as Lakshmi gadda for him.
Considering it has a strong foot hold in Karimnagar, the TRS is striving hard to retain it and is determined to win Karimnagar Parliament seat with a bumper majority. While the Opposition parties are putting in extra efforts to defeat the ruling party and teach a fitting lesson in the coming LS elections.
The TRS had won Karimnagar LS seat four times in the five LS elections that were held since 2004. KCR had won it thrice in 2004, 2006 and in 2008 and B Vinod Kumar had won it in 2014. Ponnam Prabhakar from Congress had also won it once in 2009.
After the bifurcation of the erstwhile Karimnagar district, the Karimnagar parliament constituency is formed with seven Assembly constituencies Karimnagar, Sircilla, Huzurabad, Husnabad, Vemulawada, Choppadandi and Manakondur.
The Karimnagar Parliament constituency has a total of 16,32,824 voters, out of which 8,07233 are males and 8,25,565 are females and 26 are others.
In the recently held Assembly elections, all the seven candidates from TRS had emerged winners in all the seven constituencies. Gangula Kamalakar from Karimnagar, TRS working president KT Rama Rao from Sircilla, Eatala Rajender from Huzurabad, Vodithela Satish Kumar from Husnabad, Chennamneni Ramesh from Vemulawada, Ravi Shankar from Choppadandi and Rasamai Balakishan from Manakondur.
Karimnagar MP and TRS LS candidate Boinapalli Vinod Kumar, who stood in number one position by participating 106 times in discussions held on various issues in 16th Lok Sabha, expresses confidence that the TRS along with other regional parties are going to decide Prime Minister by sweeping in the coming Lok Sabha elections. An interview with him ..
The Hans India: What are the developmental works you took up in this region as Karimnagar MP?
Vinod: Sanctioning of railway line between Kottapalli and Manoharabad, a dream project of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Taking initiative for including Karimnagar in the list of Smart Cities. Construction of railway overbridge at Uppal, Bijigiri Sharief railway stations along with construction of ROB over Laxettipeta road and sanctioning of national highways and getting sanction to run Karimnagar to Tirupati express daily instead of twice a week are made possible only due to my efforts as part of developing Karimnagar district.
THI: What about the slogan of Telangana movement - Water, funds and jobs. Do you think the TRS fulfilled it?
Vinod: Telangana is now concentrating on the usage of its share of water and investing all its funds in the development of irrigation projects. Regarding jobs, the government had issued several notifications and recruited around 40,000 posts till date and will fulfil more in the coming days.
THI: What kind of role the TRS is going to play in national politics?
Vinod: People has lost faith in Congress and BJP parties and surely a coalition government will be formed at the Centre. It is the people, who will elect MPs and the Prime Minister. Political parties are just representatives of the people.
When the people of the country choose us as a political alternative for Congress and BJP and give a mandate accordingly, we will certainly play a key role in national politics.
THI: What is the response from the public during your election campaigning?
Vinod: There is no need for us to meet the people to publicise our works and ask them for their votes.
They know very well about our work and fixed to give all 16 LS seats to the TRS. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao always ensured that we maintain regular interaction with people and conducted several programmes.
THI: Are you confident that you will win in the LS?
Vinod: I do not see any competition from other parties, and I am sure that I am going to win this election with bumper majority. I assure to strive hard further for the development of the constituency to make it stand in number one position.
