Hyderabad: Hyderabad police have worried over coronavirus which infected three more constables working with different wings of city police including the traffic branch.

The law and order and traffic police who are strictly implementing the lockdown norms have been falling prey to the coronavirus. The traffic police who were posted on duty at Madinaguda, Miyapur, Manikonda and Narsingi were tested positive for the coronavirus on Wednesday, said the Rangareddy district medical and health official.

On Thursday, at least three more policemen tested positive for coronavirus and were shifted to various hospitals in the city. Among the three, a constable working with traffic police was shifted to Gandhi Hospital after he tested positive. Another law and order constable who was on duty at Gandhi Hospital was also infected with the virus.

According to a senior official, around 15 policemen have tested positive for coronavirus so far including a death. On May 20, a constable who was on duty at Gandhi Hospital tested positive for coronavirus and died while undergoing treatment making the first coronavirus death in the police department.
