Former Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar's team has embarked on a visit to the Kaleswaram Medigadda project on Wednesday morning. Ponnam Prabhakar stated that the purpose of the visit is to investigate corruption irregularities and quality defects in the project. He expressed concern over the delay in providing water from Kaleswaram to the Gauravelli project, which has been awaited by the people of Husnabad for the past 10 years. The farmers in the Husnabad area are now worried about the apparent halt in the progress of the project.

In the meantime, authorities have initiated an inquiry into the sagging of the Medigadda Lakmi Barrage bridge, a crucial component of the Kaleswaram project. It has been confirmed that pillars 19, 20, and 21 of the bridge are sagging. The cause of this structural defect is yet to be determined.

The Lakshmi Barrage inter-state bridge, part of the Kaleswaram lift project, collapsed on the night of Saturday, the 21st. The bridge has sagged between the 19th, 20th, and 21st pillars of Barrage B-Block, spanning approximately 30 meters in length and up to a foot in height. It remains unclear whether the sagging is due to the pillars sinking into the ground or a fault between the cement and iron beams connecting the barrage gates and the bridge. Engineering officials are investigating the cause.
