Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) on Sunday suspended the scrutinizer S Vijay Kumar after conducting an interim probe where a topper in Telugu was declared failed.

Hyderabad: The examiner identified as D Uma Devi, working as a Telugu lecturer at Narayana Junior College, RB Nagar, Shamshabad, was penalised Rs 5,000 and was sacked by her employer. The scrutinizer who has been working a lecturer in Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Boys Junior College at Kothur in Ranga Reddy district was suspended from his duties because he failed to identify that the examiner bubbled 00 instead of 99.

Gajja Navya, a student of Karimalla Junior College in Mancherial district, was declared failed with zero marks in Telugu in second year exams, despite securing 98 marks in first year. After re-evaluation, the student got 99 marks in Telugu, pushing her total score from 825 marks to 924. Her marks were rectified a day after the results, without re-verification fee.
