Hyderabad: The Medical Joint Action Committee (JAC) has demanded the government to stop Covid-19 treatment and testing in private hospitals and labs in view of allegations of fleecing of people visiting these centres. In view of heavy rush in State designated hospital Gandhi, the JAC urged the government to consider decentralising treatment and offering Covid treatment in major State hospitals like OGH, Niloufer, Fever etc which will result in overcrowding in Gandhi.

Medical JAC chairman Dr B Ramesh, convenor Dr P Srinivas, Co-ordinator Dr Narahari, Chief Advisor Jupally Rajender were also critical of inept handling of Covid special testing without adequate technicians and staff resulting in pendency of reports beyond 48 hours which will impact test results. They alleged lack of coordination between senior officials and the health department resulting in chaos at the ground level.
